據洛杉磯縣消防局稱，該事件發生在下午4點07分，地點為Las Tunas Avenue 9000號。

當天，一家購物中心外50英尺長的外牆忽然坍塌，導致5個人被困在一家美發沙龍店內，還有1人被困在一家幹洗店內。

據了解，事發地點為天普市的一家繁華商場，人流量很大，裏麵還有多家華人商鋪。

一名該事件的親曆者Justin
Han表示，坍塌事故發生時，他正在這家坍塌的美發沙龍裏準備剪頭發，他描述當時的畫麵跟地震一樣，“當時整個立麵開始坍塌，你還能聽到吱吱作響的聲音。每個人都開始跑到（沙龍）後麵。”

因為這兩家受影響的企業都沒有後門，消防人員派出了一輛重型清障車，清理了一條道路，到下午5點06分，六名被困者被成功救出。

目前尚不清楚是什麽原因導致外牆倒塌。
