聯合國今天一項報告預測，世界人口預計在今年11月15日達到80億人，並指出印度將在2023年超越中國，成為地球上人口最多的國家。

法新社報導，聯合國秘書長古特瑞斯（Antonio
Guterres）表示，這項人口總數裏程碑“提醒了我們在關愛地球上的共同責任，並反思我們對彼此的承諾還有哪些不足”。但他未提及具體細節。

聯合國經濟和社會事務部的預測指出，世界人口正以1950年以來最慢速度成長。

報告說，世界人口應在2030年達到85億人，在2050年達97億人，在2080年代達約104億人高峰，然後直到2100年都維持這一穩定水準。

報告指出，雖然在幾個開發中國家觀察到淨出生率下降，但未來數十年世界人口的增長，有一半以上會集中在8個國家，分別是剛果民主共和國、埃及、衣索比亞、印度、奈及利亞、巴基斯坦、菲律賓和坦尚尼亞。
