主導這次布查大屠殺行動的俄軍指揮官叫奧莫爾別科夫（Azatbek
Omurbekov），是俄軍獨立64機動步兵旅的指揮官。
俄烏戰火持續一個多月，烏軍在奪回首都基輔市郊布查鎮（Bucha）後，在當地一座教堂旁發現近300人的亂葬崗，死者遭到俄軍行刑式槍殺，引發國際社會撻伐，而主導這次行動的俄軍指揮官叫做奧莫爾別科夫（Azatbek
Omurbekov），被人稱為“布查屠夫”。
紐約郵報報導，烏克蘭誌願者情報組織InformNapalm發現，該名“布查屠夫”的真實身份為40多歲的奧莫爾別科夫中校，是俄軍獨立64機動步兵旅的指揮官。InformNapalm在網站上公開奧爾默別科夫的家庭住址、電子郵件、電話號碼，並稱他是布查大屠殺背後的“軍事惡棍”，讓300名烏克蘭平民的屍體被扔在道路上或丟至亂葬崗。
每日郵報報導，根據InformNapalm說法，奧莫爾別科夫去年11月還曾前往東正教教會祈禱，並獲得一位主教的祝福。當時他在儀式後說，“曆史證明，我們戰鬥時都是靠自己靈魂進行的，武器不是最重要的，教堂是一個我們可以進行聖餐，並為即將到來的活動做準備的地方。”

the Russian Federation (army unit 51460). Its commander was
Lieutenant Colonel Omurbekov Azatbek Asanbekovich from Khabarovsk
