在俄軍侵略烏克蘭邁入第3周後，美國使館力促公民，立刻離開烏克蘭。美國駐基輔使館說，俄軍持續攻擊已使安全狀況”充滿暴力，並無法預測”。

據BBC新聞網報導，由於烏克蘭道路可能擠滿逃離民眾，暴露在戰鬥危險下，或是因為道路橋梁毀損，基礎設施破壞，美國使館同時警告，仍留在當地的美國公民要慎選撤離的路線，並注意相關風險。

就在美國警告北京，要是為俄烏戰爭協助莫斯科規避廣泛製裁，將”絕對”會麵臨後果之後幾小時，《環球時報》前總編輯、現任特約評論員胡錫進推文說，中美必須達成協議，要所有的國家都停止提供俄羅斯和烏克蘭軍援，而隻能提供人道援助。
